RAQUEL PARTNOY
RAQUEL PARTNOY
Influenced by her Jewish-Russian heritage and Argentinian birthplace, Raquel Partnoy points to discrimination, repression, and injustice as sources of inspiration in her works. Living in Argentina in the 1970s,when a military coup took place and subsequently thousands of people were captured, tortured and killed by a military government, she began including human figures in her paintings to express her own experiences during that time. Currently Partnoy lives in the United States where she has been shown her paintings at art galleries, museums and other venues.
“The range of Partnoy’s sense of life and of the art which reflects it includes uniquely Jewish, uniquely Argentine and broad human experience, filtered. as every major artist’s work is, through her personalized vision and the individualized details of her own life.”
