A woman's role as muse in art movements has always been considered far more important than her role as artist.
Although many women were accomplished in their own right, for the most part they are remembered as a source of inspiration for renowned masterpieces. At times when woman's role were limited to those of wife and mother,
discrimination and lack of opportunities caused them to be ignored as artists. Therefore, it is difficult to evaluate their contribution to art through history because their creativity has been hidden either behind the names of successful husbands or companions or, by social conditions. Raquel Partnoy created a gallery of portraits about these extraordinary women who silenced their own aspirations, spending their quiet, still lives giving moral and physical support to their male partners.
En los movimientos de arte el rol de la mujer ha sido siempre más importante como musa que como artista . . Aunque muchas de ellas han tenido éxito en sus vidas, mayormente son recordadas como fuente de inspiración en obras de arte famosas. En tiempos en que la mujer se vió limitada en sus roles de esposa y madre, discriminación y falta de oportunidades motivaron que fueran ignoradas como artistas. Por lo tanto, es muy difícil evaluar su contribución al arte a través de su historia debido a que su creatividad se vió siempre escondida detrás de los nombres de sus esposos o amantes, quienes eran artistas famosos, o debido a discriminación de la sociedad en contra de la mujer. Raquel Partnoy ha creado una galería de retratos inspirada en aquellas extraordinarias mujeres que silenciaron su propia inspiración dando todo tipo de apoyo a sus compañeros artistas. .
